What do we need to be teaching kids, when do we teach it, and what are some good resources?
These outcomes underwent close scrutiny and discussion with TAG. They have been created specifically with the needs of the students in Chinook’s Edge School Division in mind. These digital citizenship lessons should serve as a guide for teachers who are looking for assistance in their classrooms.
Grade 1
KEEP IT PRIVATE - What kinds of information should you keep to yourself when you use the Internet?
GOING PLACES SAFELY - How do you go places safely on the computer?
Grade 4
Need to know:RINGS OF RESPONSIBILITY - What kinds of responsibilities does a good digital citizen have?
Nice to know: SUPER DIGITAL CITIZEN - How can people help others be good digital citizens?
Wouldn't hurt to touch on online purchasing and digital commerce if an opportunity presents.
Grade 5
Need to know: WHAT'S CYBERBULLYING? - What is cyberbullying, and how do you deal with it?
Nice to know: SELLING STEREOTYPES - How do we learn stereotypes of boys and girls from media messages?
Grade 12
COLLEGE BOUND - How can information you post on the Internet affect your future opportunities?
COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE - What are the benefits and drawbacks of people working together to create information online?
