The International Society for Technology in Education
The International Society for Technology in Education is a major driver of educational technology standards worldwide. In addition to the major Conference and Expo they host each June in a major American city, they are also a book publisher, and a journal publisher, offering a large list of open source resources for teachers (aka: free), and an incredible blog to guide the infusion of technology into the twenty-first century classroom.
Despite the lengthy list of resources and services offered by the ISTE, they are a great place to start if you’re feeling overwhelmed by ed tech. Their webinars and community events (these are predominately American, but webinars are for anyone) cover a wide variety of topics and there is generally something for every confidence level from the beginner to the techno-confident.
And if podcasts are your preferred mechanism for a little bit of PD (or to fulfill your Professional Growth Plan goals if you selected as goal related to the use of ed tech), the ISTE offers a new podcast every second Wednesday!
